safer and cleaner with the power of herbs

This year, I resolve to make my life safer and cleaner with the power of herbs! Actually, I've been making cleaners from vinegar, baking soda, castille soap, herbs, and essential oils for some time.

This year I plan to expand this practice to laundry soap. A certain famous internet MD, with whom I rarely agree but always read, wrote an article the other day about poisons present in laundry soap. I tried before making my own laundry soap, but had terrible skin reactions to the pink or yellow grated laundry bars in all the recipes I found.  The web MD gave a recipe using grated bath soap. Since I have narrowed down bath soaps to only those that don't make me itch or worse, I just might be successful this time. Enter Mountain Rose Herbs, my shopping choice for dried herbs and such. Giving me another nudge in this direction, they are having a great give-away. Check it out!

I also plan to start making my own lotions, salves, and lip balm again, starting with lip balm. Strangely, I got off track, when I started using Bert's Bees again awhile back. I am a bee keeper myself with a good source of organic bee's wax from my own back yard. But shame on Clorox for changing the recipes. How do I know they did? The last tube of lip balm I used made my lips swell up, crack, bleed, and peel. Gross and painful.
